la la la la... Love!

Yes! Valentine's Day arrived! Then, it went away :(   Oh, well... more for next year! Valentine's Day has always been one of my fav days of the year since I was a little girl. Mark only makes it better :)

This year, I decided I would make a fun breakfast.
For Mark: Strawberry Cake pancakes (the batter was soooo yummy!) with blueberries and syrup and a side of eggs. For Me: A bowl of fiber, soy, and honey. Then, for us both, berries and good 'ole H2O.

Then... briefcase, lunch box, kisses and off to work.

When I came home later that day...
He had the house all dark, and the dining room table was lit with candles and dinner ready to go! I was super excited because, unless you count taking something out of the oven after I have prepared it and put it in there, he has never cooked for me. So surprised :) After our candle lit dinner, we hopped in the car and went to the movies (another rarity, so again, so excited!) We saw that new Adam Sandler movie "Jack and Jill" HILARIOUS! Yes, I know, this movie has been out for awhile, but like I said we usually don't go to the theater. We snuggled up like two teenagers in the back of the theater and cracked up through the entire film.

After, back home. It was time to take our self-couple-holiday-picture. Getting a picture of the two of us is much easier with our smaller Canon that has the flip screen... but we still end up taking a billion because my hair looks funny or he was looking at the screen instead of the lens. At the end of what was probably a five minute photo session... here's what we decided on for this year...
With that over with, we got comfy and ready for bed, grabbed our usual hot chocolate, and snuggled up under the covers.

That is how we ended Valentine's Day 2012. Happy. In Love. And fully satiated with giant mugs of hot chocolate. Sounds like a good day to me!

I Ruined the Surprise

So here is kind of a funny story. On Sunday, while Mark stayed extra long at church for Pro-Life Doughnut Sunday, I decided I would finally put away the pile of Christmas decorations that we had sitting in the basement outside of the Holiday closet. So, I open the closet and begin to empty it out so I can fit all the Christmas decorations on the shelves, as well as go through every Holiday and sort through which decorations to keep and which to get rid of. As I do this, I find a crystal punch bowl.

I take a quick look at it, decide it's really freaking pretty, and then knowing I could easily get distracted, open it up, and investigate all the sparkle it lets off, I look at the big heap of decorations and decide it would be much more efficient to set the punch bowl aside and take a gander at it after I finish the job. I had assumed it was the punch bowl that Mark said we had back in December and then decided we didn't have one after all when he couldn't find it so we ended up using our Halloween candy bowl (I think I blogged about that?). As I picked it up off the shelf in the closet, I just passed it off as Mark not looking good enough for it a few months earlier and that I had not seen it myself because, well, I am not always so observant.

So there it sat, until a little later when Mark came down to the basement to join me after arriving back home. He took one look at it, all pretty there on the floor, and said "What? You found it! That was for you!" So I get all confused, and we both start laughing. Then I suddenly realize "Ohhmygosh, that was my VALENTINE'S DAY PRESENT! NO, I RUINED THE SURPRISE!" I think I was more bummed that he was! He says he'll just have to go with Plan B (which he is currently trying to come up with, in less than 24 hours, LOL)  Oh well. My punch bowl is perfect :) I can't wait to use it at our St. Patrick's Day party next month!

And here is a picture of the perfect little cups!

Even though I found it early, and that is a little bit of a bumm, I am really happy with my present from Mark. It was an item we had reserved for our bridal registry (which will be made as soon as Mr. Taking His Time gets down on one knee, LOL) along with a bigger Brita (I'm a Brita-holic!) and an assortment of other things that I find really fun and exciting. We are always "reserving things for the registry" so we don't spend the money we want to spend right now, lol. We see something we like and just go "Registry!"

Anyhow, that's off topic. Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and I know Mark had more than this gorgeous punch bowl up his sleeve. He was more bummed that I ruined HOW he was going to give it to me than that I found it in the first place. Makes me wonder... what exactly was he going to do? He refuses to tell me though, saying he may use a similar display of gift giving in the future. Either way, I'm super looking forward to tomorrow and early gift or no early gift, Valentine's Day is a favorite :)
